Quotes and Fall

Happy Fall (I miss you girls!)

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it is called the present" Eleanor Roosevelt

"Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending." Carl Bard

"Women are like tea bags, you don't know there strength until they are in hot water"
Eleanor Roosevelt

I am reading Ann Voskamps book "One Thousand Gifts" again and trying my hardest to take it slow. I have had a lot of time to think, reflect, notice the small things, while big things are happening all around me.

Today I watched the twins peeling carrots at the sink. They were kneeling on stools and their dirty little feet were there for me to look at. They were having a ball! Laughing and caring on without a care as I chopped other things for the soup. The moment only lasted a fleeting second, but I had slowed down long enough to relish the simplicity of their happiness. They were quickly onto something else, running out the door to give the bunny one of the carrots they had so nicely peeled.

The three older girls are in Montana enjoying a different kind of slow. They get to be kids, enjoy the beauty of the lake, nature, the animals. We are slow here because going from 5 to 2 kids really cuts down the laundry, dishes, bedtime routine, and there is no official school work to be completed! The twins have played well together and so days are spend cleaning things out, cooking, reading, praying, and thinking. I miss those sweet girls, but I know they are having a ball.

Tomorrow I get to go help a friend make applesauce. I just love it that fall is in the air...I decorated the house, shuffled things around a bit and have been playing music and burning candles all day long. I love that you "need" a sweater in the evening and that you are met with the smell of cold when you go outdoors.

I started a new session of my boot camp and am pushing myself so hard that I am bound to lose pounds, inches, flab, and for sure sleep as I am crazy enough to do 5AM with my dearest friends!

My comfort comes from Psalms 107:28-30 (TY Meaghan for this beautiful translation)
"Lord help!" they cried in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.
He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.
What a blessing was stillness as He brought them safely into harbor!
