Another Cold Day

The kids had so much fun going to Newport Beach even though it was in the low 60's. Kids are like that...they can find joy in the simple, the unlikely. I had spent a bit of time being disappointed because I had built up in my mind, taking them to the "sunny" beach. I think they had just as much fun, maybe even more fun playing together. And guess how much complaining I heard?.....None at all, they were having the time of their lives!

Lizzy and I hundled up and tried to keep warm as we watched the crazies get more wet and more wet. We enjoyed predicting who would get wet next. We knew we were the "smart" ones!!!
Twins had a total hoot playing together in the water!

Katherine and Mary managed to get completely wet! It was bound to happen on such a balmy day!!!

Laguna Beach~Stillness in the Storm

"Lord Help!" they cried in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.
He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.
What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor!
Psalms 107:28-30

I decided it would be fun to take the kids down to the beach for a night and enjoy some time away. We had fun despite the overcast skies and 60 degree temps. On our way to the hotel the first day I thought it would be neat to take them to Laguna and then drive them up PCH to where we were staying. They were all dressed up and it was nearly dinner time, but a couple of them still managed to get into the freezing cold water and get quite wet in the process!

As life has thrown us a major crisis, I find comfort in the promise that He will bring stillness, even if in little spurts. Although time away brought its challenges and packing, feeding, etc for five children is far from easy alone, the joy and happiness we shared together was worth all of the "hard" involved.

Valentines Celebrating

Girls celebrating V-day at school. Forgot what a way too big a deal love day is when you are in school. Katherine was on the dessert committee for her class and they decided to have everything home-made. She and I made 80+ Elephant Ears! Here Mary is with her teacher Mrs Comadena and Lizzy is with her friend Andrea.

This picture is for you Mom...to show you the entry way!
The Sunday before Valentines Day was a crazy day. We had our Valentines Party and then Mother/Daughter Book Club at the Rigsby's Home. It is so much fun to hear the girls talk about the books we read and to watch them read different kinds of books that they might otherwise not pick up. This time the we had read Gone Away Lake and Return to Gone Away Lake. For our next get together we are to read a Nest for Celeste that is about a mouse who lives in the house where James John Audubon resides. This will be a fun one because we can all read it together including the twins!

The Girls had fun planning our annual Valentines Party...this year they are really into the following the princesses of Europe. They decided the party would be a "Modern Princess Tea" They each invited two friends, we did nails and make-up and ate scones and lemon curd and little sandwiches. Katherine made a cute flag banner to hang and the girls put up there favorite pictures of real princesses. Lots of fun!
